Harold Kislik has served on the HERJC Board of Directors since 2003, and was President of the Congregation from 2012-2015. He has been involved in many areas of synagogue life including Dinner Dance, Rabbi and Cantor Search Committees, and Ritual Committee chair. Harold served as co-chair of the Mitzvah 613 Torah writing project. He is also the guitarist in our Friday night Simchat Shabbat musical group.
Harold was raised in Hewlett, graduated from G.W. Hewlett High School, and received a B.A. from Williams College. He and his wife, Liz, moved back to Long Island in 1985, where he served on the Board of Directors of Temple Hillel before joining HERJC in 1992.
After a career in retailing at Macy’s and Bed, Bath & Beyond, Harold left to be a full-time stay-at-home father, becoming involved in numerous volunteer activities that have benefited the local community. He has served as a director on the Board of the Five Towns Early Learning Center in Inwood and as their President. Harold was also a trustee and later, vice-president, of the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools Board of Education for twelve years.
Harold and Liz have two children, David and Sophie, who attended our HERJC Nursery School, Religious School, and youth programs.
